Classified Staff will tutor students in math and literacy. Our goals are to raise literacy and math achievement, improve academic and nonacademic performance, provide a safe and supportive environment and build relationships with students. Ability to assist in the assembling and delivery of enrichment activities related to STEM and/or Project Based Learning under the direction of a teacher and site coordinator. Promote good habits as a role model for students. Maintain classroom supplies, equipment, and work area. Ability to provide a welcoming, fun, safe and supportive environment for students. Promoting the success and achievement of low-income students from culturally diverse backgrounds. Ability to work successfully with students of differing physical, cognitive and language abilities. Ability to work as a team to implement designed curriculum and enrichment opportunities for students. Attend staff meetings and preparation for summer program during the week of June 22-26 (5-10 hours). Required to have a working knowledge of computer technology and equipment. Required Qualifications Ability to provide a welcoming, supportive and safe environment for individual or small group Ability to implement intervention strategies in reading and math for 3rd and 4th grade Ability to implement and/or plan academic curriculum to help prepare students for the next grade level Ability to work independently to modify and/or plan curriculum for elementary school students Ability to manage student behavior that is consistent with procedures and policies at Whitson Elementary Monitor student progress and identify strengths and weaknesses in language and math proficiency Support the social and emotional health of a child using SEL and Restorative Practices Team player and highly collaborative Be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent In addition, a paraeducator must meet one of the following: Have received a qualifying score on the Education Testing Service (ETS) paraeducator assessment Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university Have completed an apprenticeship as a paraeducator, in a program registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council- Preferred Qualifications Recent experience teaching elementary students Ability to speak, read and write Spanish
