Min Hourly Rate $15.05 (Standard); $14.05 (Non-Urban); $16.30 (Portland Metro) Max Hourly Rate $21.50 (Standard); $21.00 (Non-Urban); $22.00 (Portland Metro) Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week during academic terms and a maximum of 40 hours per week during academic breaks) summer student employee for the Mid-Columbia Extension at Oregon State University (OSU). The Adams Tree Fruit Entomology Lab, located at the Mid-Columbia Agricultural Research and Extension Center (MCAREC) in Hood River, is interviewing for a summer hourly employee to help with a number of research projects in both Pear and Sweet Cherry orchards. Our lab focuses on the ecology and management of arthropods that occur in tree fruit production. Research themes include chemical ecology, biological control, habitat management, behavioral pest management, and agricultural innovation and technology. We are seeking 1 undergraduate research assistant to work during the summer field season (June to September). The successful applicant will participate in research projects focused on established pests of tree fruit, invasive species, and natural enemies. Previous experience is not required. Duties include driving an OSU vehicle to collect trapping data across the growing region to monitor insect populations, identifying insect species under the microscope, and maintenance of insect colonies. Other activities include processing samples, assisting with general lab maintenance and data entry.
