Job Description

This summer position in the Cinematic Arts Department supports the wrap and preparation processes of our equipment vault between academic years. The worker hired in this position would assist with equipment maintenance—cleaning, moving, organizing, inventorying, barcoding, assessing, etc. Some of these tasks involve computer-based functions. Cleaning, maintenance, and organization of the vault facility may be needed regularly, too. Miscellaneous tasks may be assigned as necessary for completion of vault team projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Assist with inventory and upkeep of equipment stored in the Cinematic Arts Equipment Warehouse. 2. Check out equipment on a regular basis for Cinematic Arts student projects. 3. Perform inspections/evaluations upon equipment returns. 4. Maintain a clean working environment - cleaning floors, work stations/desks, sweeping, mopping, and organizing. 5. Assist with software and firmware updates for applicable equipment. 6. Perform inventory tasks using Microsoft Office/Google Forms to track equipment repair and maintenance. 7. Assist Equipment Manager and Equipment Inventory Specialist with various tasks where needed.
ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES ESSENTIAL TO THE FUNCTION OF THE JOB
Minimum Qualifications Reliability in completing tasks, fulfilling responsibilities, and fulfilling expected hours of work A friendly demeanor, a helpful spirit, and a willingness to learn The ability to work independently as well as in a team Cursory knowledge base of camera, audio, and/or lighting equipment Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in a Cinematic Arts program industry experience working with camera, audio and/or lighting equipment Communication and Comprehension Ability to effectively communicate verbally to convey clear, well-articulated information. Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner. Strong organizational skills. Competent computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, internet navigation, and file management. Problem Solving Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature. Physical and Sensory Abilities Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building Ability to handle materials, reach overhead, kneel, or stoop in order to conduct business Ability to regularly lift 50 or fewer pounds
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work Environment The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled warehouse setting. Lighting and noise levels are similar to a warehouse equipment room. Job will occasionally require work in an outdoor setting.
