  • Posting may close at any time) Job Summary The Department of Biomedical Informatics at the University of Utah is seeking a motivated undergraduate intern for a summer position assisting with data science analyses for the Gene Kids Project, a research initiative focused on Whole Genome Sequencing to improve diagnosis and treatment of pediatric genetic disorders.
More information can be found here: This is a temporary summer position that is anticipated to be active from mid-June to mid-August. Responsibilities Assist with data-analysis and modeling related to genomic datasets : This includes processing whole-genome sequencing data from pediatric patients and applying statistical or computational methods to identify variants associated with rare genetic disorders. Contribute to interpretation and reporting of results: This involves helping translate findings into clear biological insights and supporting the preparation of summaries, visualizations, and manuscript figures for research and clinical collaborators. Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Preferences Preferred Qualifications Strong background in computer science, statistics, or a related field Proficiency in R and Python (required) Coursework in statistics, including multivariate regression and model selection Experience with tools, workflows, and file formats used in whole-genome analysis for Mendelian disease is highly desirable Current undergraduate student Special Instructions Summary Along with your resume and cover letter, please provide one reference that we may contact.
