Sumner Memorial High School Join Sumner Memorial High School, located in picturesque Sullivan, Maine. Set amidst serene beauty, our learning campus is just a short 15-minute drive east of Ellsworth, the county seat, and a scenic 40 miles from bustling Bangor. Notably close to Bar Harbor and the stunning Acadia National Park, Charles M. Sumner Learning Campus houses both Sumner Middle School and Sumner Memorial High School, fostering a community of students spanning grades 6 through 12. We are seeking a team oriented, energetic, and creative educator to teach Mathematics at Sumner Memorial High School starting with the 2026-2027 school year. Applicants must hold or be able to obtain a Maine Teacher Certification (300

Mathematics 7-12) with a current MDOE Criminal History Records Check. Pay is based upon experience and level of education. In addition to the above, the ideal candidate is someone who will create a positive classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of our students. The right teacher is a vibrant, dependable, and collaborative educator dedicated to students and possessing a passion for the subject of mathematics. Essential qualities include excellent communication skills, an ability to develop strong student relationships, and a team player approach to collaborative work. The ideal candidate possesses expertise in curriculum instruction and an active interest in continual professional growth. Key Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging math lessons that align with state standards and district approved curriculum. Develop and implement differentiated instruction strategies to meet the diverse needs of all students. Utilize a variety of assessment methods to evaluate student progress, adjust instruction as needed, and provide feedback to help students grow and develop. Keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports several times per school year. Implement PBIS strategies that promote positive behavior and create a supportive classroom environment as well as school culture. Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and parents to support student success and well-being. Integrate technology effectively into the classroom to enhance learning experiences. Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in math education and the teaching profession.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field Valid teaching certification for high school math (300
