Job Description

Job Summary The Fabrication Shop Superintendent at Mid-State Industrial is responsible for leading daily operations within a custom steel fabrication environment. This role ensures safe, efficient, and high-quality production of custom metal products by managing personnel, coordinating job flow, and aligning shop activities with project schedules and customer specifications. You will be responsible for supervising shop leads and crews of welders, fitters, and mechanics as well as performing hands on work, as needed. Essential Duties Supervise, coordinate, and/or schedule the activities of shop employees. Oversee all fabrication activities including structural steel fabrication, welding, cutting, forming, and assembly. Read specifications, such as blueprints, to determine maintenance requirements or to plan procedures. Inspect work progress and shop areas to verify safety and ensure that specifications are met. Coordinate with other departments such as; QA/QC, engineering and project teams. Assign work to employees, based on material or worker requirements of specific jobs. Estimate material or worker requirements to complete jobs. Confer with managerial or technical personnel, other departments, or contractors to resolve problems or to coordinate activities. Analyze worker or production problems and recommend solutions, such as improving production methods or implementing motivational plans. Train workers on fabrication methods, operation of tools/equipment, safety procedures, and/or company policies. Record information such as personnel, production, or operational data on specified forms or reports. Arrange for repairs of equipment or machinery. Suggest or initiate personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, or hires. Other duties as assigned.
