Position Overview The primary purpose of this position is to manage and deliver services of the Marquette Volunteer Legal Clinics, including operations of its Mobile Legal Clinic. This position organizes and supervises pro bono work performed by law students and volunteer lawyers, ensuring legal services run efficiently and effectively. The role also develops systems that expand pro bono involvement and community access to legal help. Through administration, collaboration, on-site leadership, and the practice of law, the coordinator sustains high-quality legal service delivery. Duties and Responsibilities Provide oversight, management, and support of the Marquette Volunteer Legal Clinics, including its Mobile Legal Clinic. This includes all aspects of operations, administration, logistics, scheduling, planning, purchasing, reporting, data tracking, evaluation, on-site clinic oversight, stakeholder communication, and ensuring effective service delivery.
Practice law via the Marquette Volunteer Legal Clinics.
\Work collaboratively with all members of the Office of Public Service, as well as other access-to-justice stakeholders, to develop program strategy and implementation.
Support Marquette Volunteer Legal Clinics' technology improvement and implementation.
Work with existing volunteer systems and develop new tools to support volunteers in delivering effective and efficient legal services.
Coordinate maintenance and repairs of the Mobile Legal Clinic vehicle with the University facilities team. Drive the Mobile Legal Clinic vehicle as needed.
Responsible for the supervision of student employees, which includes but is not limited to hiring, training, disciplinary actions, ending the student's assignment, etc.
Oversee communications about the Marquette Volunteer Legal Clinics, including marketing clinic services to community members, maintaining relevant webpages, and representing the program at community events. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities JD
Current, active Wisconsin law license.
Proven ability to develop and implement program goals.
Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to communicate with a variety of groups, including organization leaders, volunteers, and the general public.
Ability to manage time, set priorities, and accomplish project needs collaboratively and with good judgment.
Experience in public interest and/or pro bono practice settings.
Current, active Wisconsin law license in good standing.
This is a full time position. The position is responsible for developing some pro bono programming to occur on evenings and / or weekends. Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 1-3 years previous related experience
Previous supervisory experience
A minimum of 1 year of experience, including volunteer legal experience, law student internship, or pro bono experience.
Some prior estate planning experience, or at least familiarity with Wisconsin statutory wills and powers of attorney documents
Some prior experience or at least familiarity with adult guardianship forms. Department Law School
