Job Description
Work involves the performance of supervision of the issuance of building permits and inspections and clerical duties. The supervision of the process of flows including intake and tracking status of building permit applications and issuance, supervision of other Inspection Clerks. Clerical duties include data entry of applicable information into the GIS based permit system, maintaining files and records, and cash collection pertaining to the sale and issuance of building permits. This position deals with the general public constantly throughout the workday and requires excellent customer service skills. This position reports to the Chief Building Official and provides administrative support to the Director of Development Services. Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for the building permit application intake process, archiving construction documents and utilizing mapping and permit software. Performs duties of the Inspection Clerk. Supervises, directs and coordinates the duties of the Inspection Clerk(s). Trains and assists Inspection Clerk(s) and Department staff on software processes and office procedures. Communicates and coordinates with inspectors, planning staff and various other governmental agencies (local, municipal, and State) relating to the issuance of building permits and inspections. Communicates with contractors to schedule inspections, record licensure and certification. Accurately reviews documents and assists clerks to determine the appropriate course of action to complete the transaction. Maintains professional behavior and excellent customer service at all times. Accurately collects and records payments and balance cash receipts to daily activity reports and maintains a good working relationship with bookkeeping staff to maintain and report accurate financial reports in a timely manner. Maintains inventory of forms and office supplies. Provide support for the fixed asset recording and reconciliation process; preparation and processing of purchase orders, staff expense reports, and other financial reports as needed. Maintain attendance and leave records; post time and attendance for positions in Development Services; and assist employees with their time, attendance and leave records. Communicates and supports Department staff related to County Policies and Procedures. Maintains statistical reports and databases as needed. Provides time sensitive information for Freedom of Information requests. Maintains files for reference material (SOP's and customer handouts) related to all Department transactions. Performs duties in a safe and efficient manner. Performs all other duties as assigned by supervision.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma and seven or more years of experience providing clerical and/or administrative support for management of a department or company or a Bachelor's degree and four or more years of experience providing clerical and/or administrative support for management of a department or company. Three or more years of experience acquiring or issuing permits or inspections related to the construction industry.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
