Job Description

A supervisor is first and foremost an overseer whose main responsibility is to ensure that a group of employees perform the assigned amount of construction tasks, when they are supposed to do it and within acceptable levels of quality, costs and Safety. The Supervisor must also ensure that the employees work at maximum efficiency. A good supervisor places a high priority on coaching employees. Good coaching involves working with employees to establish suitable goals, action plans and time lines. The supervisor delegates and also provides ongoing guidance and support to the employee as they complete their action plans. Rarely can job goals be established without considering other aspects of an employee's life, e.g., time available for training, career preferences, personal strengths and weaknesses, etc. A supervisor is sometimes confronted with walking a fine line between being a supervisor and the employee's confidant. ➢ Organize workflow and ensure that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks. ➢ Maintains safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing organization standards; adhering to federal/state regulations. ➢ Monitor employee productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching. ➢ Inspect work progress and/or construction progress to ensure that specifications are met. ➢ Provides quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards. ➢ Coordinate work activities with other construction project activities. ➢ Assign work to employees, based on material and/or worker requirements. ➢ Estimate material or worker requirements to complete jobs. ➢ Confer with Superintendent and/or technical personnel, other departments, or contractors to resolve problems or to coordinate activities. ➢ Confirm that the necessary materials and/or supplies requested have been ordered. ➢ Provide assistance to workers engaged in construction activities, using hand tools or other equipment. ➢ Ensure that repairs of equipment and/or machinery are being performed as needed. ➢ Accountable for the quality control of all work being performed, and provide the best quality services for the complete satisfaction of its cliental.
