POSITION PURPOSE
: Plan and direct plant operations of all units, ensuring the shift activities are conducted in accordance with all applicable TVA policies, programs, and procedures; plant Technical Specifications; and Federal, state, and local regulation. Conduct safe and reliable operation of units ensuring that the safety and welfare of the plant staff and general public is never compromised.
JOB DIMENSIONS

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
: Manages and prioritizes the day-to-day activities of Shift Operations. Provides functional supervisor and sets priorities for other groups as necessary to accomplish the plant operating objectives for the shift. Act as Site Emergency Director until properly relieved during emergency plan activation to ensure proper and timely notification of emergency response personnel, Federal authorities, and make protective action recommendations to state and local authorities where appropriate. Assures manning requirements are met to support Emergency Response. Act as the senior operations manager in absence of the Operations Manager, accountable for quality and operations performance. Resolve conflicts and adjust priorities as necessary to support safe and efficient plant operations. Conduct briefing for plant organizations and direct operating shift turnover to ensure continuity of operating priorities, objectives, and operations. Responsible for training, technical skills development, soft skills development and maintenance of qualifications for all subordinates. Maintain professional control and demeanor and appearance compatible with conducting business and safe plant operation. Responsible for disciplinary action, performance evaluations, and other human resource activities for those operations employees directly assigned. Other duties as assigned such as unit manager, outage specialist, procedures, and training. Conduct critical management observations that focus attention on sensitive work activities and reinforce desired worker behaviors. Promote an atmosphere of strong teamwork that creates an operational focus and environment on continued improvement of behaviors utilizing TVA Values and Leadership Principles. Maintain adherence to Conduct of Operation Procedures Establish performance directives and directs all process improvements with the following accountabilities: Incorporates best work management practices Directs team members in the resolution of team conflicts Directs self assessments of processes Addresses common site and fleet barriers Champions human performance tools and use Actively supports and uses corrective action tools 13. Successful completion of required training and maintain up to date safety and regulatory training.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
: Education — Bachelors in a technical field or equivalent education, training and experience Experience — Five (5) years experience in power plant operations with two (2) years experience in a supervisory capacity. S4 medical clearance, completion of Entry Qualification Requirements and Clearance Qualified are required. Unit operator experience. Responsible Employee status as defined by Power Operations Conduct Protective Tagging Procedure and Switchyard training are required. May be required to work assigned shift schedule. Certification/License, etc — N/A Knowledge/Skills/Abilities —Leadership skills and ability to direct employees. Must be able to communicate effectively with employees and management at all levels. Ability to be innovative and future focused; work well under pressure with changing priorities and effectively manage programs and personnel. Demonstrated negotiating and critical thinking skills. Candidate may be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance based on position / access requirements and essential job functions.
