SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC
SUPERVISOR, WS-5801-9, you will perform the following duties: (1)
Planning:
Plans the use of workers, equipment, facilities, merials, and tools on a day-to-day or project-by-project basis. Adheres to work priorities, project schedules, resources, and detailed workplans established by the supervisor. Follows customary work cycles and sequences in planning work assignments. Tracks and reports progress on work assignments and requests authority to adjust worker assignments; and to use overtime, equipment, and merials to meet schedules. Recommends changes to schedules, priorities, and work sequences as necessary and makes minor deviions in procedures or redirects resources under their control to overcome problems such as equipment failure, merial delays, or unplanned absences. (2)
Work Direction:
Assigns work to personnel and provides technical direction and/or help inaccomplishing difficult work steps and processes. Observes work in progress to anticipe andresolve problems. Reassigns personnel within groups supervised and coordines work amongworkers and other supervisors to maintain work progress to meet schedules. Inspects completedwork for quality and work order requirements. Reports possible or actual work delays to thesupervisor. (3)
Administrion:
Supports and explains management programs to subordines. Recommends performance rings, training, disciplinary actions, changes in performance standards, and the most suitable applicants for vacancies. Advises and counsels workers on how to improve performance and explains new work techniques. Investiges grievances and complaints, resolves them informally, and notifies the supervisor of those of sufficient importance or seriousness. Assures safety and housekeeping practices are observed. Maintains work reports and records and assists the supervisor in planning overall leave schedules. (4) Performs the nonsupervisory functions of the organizional segment supervised. (5) Implements regulory safety requirements and ensures th subordines wear approprie safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions. (6) Prepares for and participes in various types of readiness evaluions, inspections, mobilizion and command support exercises. May be required to perform additional duties such as structural fire fighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, security guard, snow removal, munitions loading and handling, heavy equipment operor, maintenance of facilities and equipment, or serve as a member of a team to cope with nural disasters or civil emergencies. GENERAL EXPERIENCE
: Experience or training which demonstres knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventive maintenance tasks, and can use common tools and equipment in the line of work.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
: In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstres the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience th provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstres the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communice knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situions.
