• Responsible for overseeing and providing professional communication between staff and families during the perioperative visit. Principal Accountabilities

Technical Experience:

1 year of experience in a medical environment preferred. Physical Activities

• Intermittent hand manipulation required
• Intermittent lifting and carrying of 20 lbs.

Role Specific Responsibilities o Assist with preparing the schedule for the next day's surgeries (assigning rooms, documenting weights and allergies) o Carry work phone at all times during working hours o Assist the patient and their visitor to the assigned bay in same day surgery o Explain the perioperative process to the patients and visitors o Assign designated bays to the patients o Ongoing timely rounds throughout same day surgery and PACU to check for schedule changes o Ongoing timely rounds throughout the visitors waiting room and provide items for comfort as needed (blankets) o Assist with the patient's preoperative required preparations as needed o Assist with room cleaning and preparations o Oversee and provide communication through the J-Tech messaging system o Facilitate professional communication between staff, patient and visitors o Communication with the preoperative and registration departments o Communication with the Operating Room Charge Nurse o Communicates any surgical delays to the patient and visitors in a timely manner o Stock bays with supplies o Inform visitors of the pertinent hospital locations o Assists the designated individuals to the surgical consult room to speak with the surgeon following the case o Identifies activities that would achieve the desired patient family liason outcome o Ensures privacy for patients and visitors o Develops and uses positive interpersonal skills with peers, other members of the healthcare team, patients and visitors o Models professionalism to others Compensation (Commensurate with experience): $17.57 - $26.36 To access our Benefits Guide/Plan Information, please click the link below: http://www.sih.net/careers/benefits
