Position Title Surgical Technology Adjunct Instructor

Class Summary Adjunct position for lecture/lab/clilinical site visits for Surgical Technology students. Positions will be based on program needs.

Minimum Education/Training/Experience Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential from the NBSTSA.
Minimum of three (3) years of recent experience as a practicing CST in the operating room. (within the past 5 years)
BLS Certification.
Preferred Education/Training/Experience Associate degree in Surgical Technology.
Prior teaching or instructional experience in a higher education or clinical setting.
Familiarity with CAAHEP and
ARC/STSA
standards. Experience with curriculum development and simulation-based instruction. Minimum Knowledge & Skills Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and sterile techniques. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to engage students and foster a supportive learning environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficient in or willing to learn educational technology platforms and LMS (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard). Preferred Knowledge & Skills Familiarity with CAAHEP andARC/STSA
standards. Knowledge of community college student populations and barriers. Job Duties Teach theoretical and practical courses in Surgical Technology, including sterile technique, surgical procedures, instrumentation, and perioperative patient care. Develop and revise course materials, lesson plans, and assessments that align with program objectives and accreditation requirements. Provide instruction in classroom, lab, and simulated surgical environments. Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, grades, and skills checklists. Evaluate student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback. Assist in the preparation and maintenance of lab equipment and supplies. Stay current with trends and advancements in surgical technology and incorporate them into instruction. Collaborate with faculty and the clinical coordinator to ensure cohesive curriculum delivery and clinical preparedness. Participate in faculty meetings, curriculum development, accreditation processes, and professional development. Support student retention, graduation, and certification exam success. Complete additional tasks assigned by the Program Director. Licensing/Certification Requirements Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential from the NBSTSA. Physical Requirements Teaching takes place in classroom, skills lab, and possibly clinical settings. May involve standing for long periods, lifting equipment, and demonstrating physical skills. Schedule may include evenings or weekends based on program needs.
