182547 Position Summary Assists land survey Party Chief in surveying earth's surface to determine precise location and measurements of points, elevations, lines, areas, and contours for construction, land division, titles, or other purposes. Pay ranges from $36
  • 40/hour, plus $150 per diem for each day worked.
The assignment is expected to last approximately 4 months, with the possibility of extension up to 8 months based on project needs. Experience Level Intermediate Primary Responsibilities and Duties Participate in planning, diagramming and layout for surveyor work Perform manual labor related to surveying needs, such as cutting brush for lines, carrying stakes, and/or pins and right of way markers delineate features of all phase's construction project. Assist in the task of establishing elevations and or grades as required Install or mark neatly elevations as instructed by the Surveying Journeyman Measure distances manually with survey chains using a plumb bob and maintain survey chains to insure accuracy and consistency Accurately set up items associated with electronic measuring and sighting and perform these actions as needed Operates and maintains survey tools and instruments Inspects work to ensure that survey work is conducted in conformance with applicable standards. Qualifications Experience as a Survey Instrument in a powerplant/industrial setting is required. Must possess working knowledge skills and abilities for position. Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision. Ability to use hand tools, power tools and layout tools safe and efficiently. Requirements The person in this position needs to constantly move about a construction/industrial site, so should be able to stand, walk, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl Constantly works in a construction environment and will be exposed to changing outdoor weather conditions Work irregular hours, weekends, overtime and holidays as required May be required to use ladders/mechanical platforms/manlifts/scaffold to access required equipment/work areas (may exceed 200 feet), so must be able to climb and maintain balance on formwork, steel formwork, stairs, ladders and scaffolds Move and work in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven surfaces Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy and dusty environment May be required/able to move items weighing up to 50 pounds across construction/industrial site Must have required tools Observe and comply with all safety and project rules, perform other duties as required Ability to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing, fit for duty medical and background check Equal Opportunity Employer, including disability and protected veteran status.
