Position Summary The Swing-Shift Panel Saw & Edge‑Band Operator supports daily production operations involving panel cutting and edge banding in a continuous improvement-focused manufacturing environment. Employees in this role are encouraged to identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and workflow while maintaining high production standards. This position includes operating panel saw and edge‑band equipment, material handling, quality checks, housekeeping, and supporting overall production flow. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Panel Saw Operator Operate panel saw software and equipment Perform blade changes as required Operate forklifts safely (in‑house certification provided) Operate department dust collection systems Understand production paperwork and product specifications Use measuring devices such as tape measures and calipers accurately Edge‑Band Operator Operate edge‑banding equipment and software Read and understand work orders and specifications Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections Understand machine capabilities and functions Conduct quality control checks on finished products Use measuring devices accurately to verify dimensions Saw / Bander Off‑Bearing Feed and off‑bear safely and efficiently Perform QC checks during production Package materials properly for shipment Work collaboratively with team members to maintain safe material flow Order & Material Handling Pull materials accurately using SKU and location systems Stage materials in a safe and organized manner Perform required safety checks Operate forklifts safely Housekeeping & Safety Maintain clean, organized work areas Clean and return tools after use Clean and inspect machines before shifts Empty dump bins as assigned Always wear required PPE Follow all safety procedures and best practices General Duties Use hand tools such as drills and wrenches Understand the complete order process Stack sheet goods and materials according to standard unit widths Assist with specialty machinery as trained Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Ability to learn and operate production equipment Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide; calculate linear, square, and board footage) Ability to read, understand, and communicate job‑related information in English Ability to learn and use computer software, including Microsoft Office Ability to work scheduled overtime when needed Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: Stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and balance Use hands and fingers to handle materials and operate equipment Lift up to 25 pounds regularly, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 100 pounds occasionally Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
