Job Description

Education Level:
Hold or be eligible for GaPSC approved
Social Work Degree Proficiency Skills:
Written and oral communication skills, ability to operate office machinery and deal with multiple tasks, computer competence, typing and proof reading skills and leadership skills. Ability to deal with multiple tasks, computer competence, organizational and interpersonal skills.
Personal Skills:
Pleasant personality, cooperative attitude, physical skills and stamina to perform responsibilities and duties.
Primary Function :
Assumes the responsibility of finding effective ways to prevent and resolve personal, emotional and social problems that significantly interfere with students' adjustment to school and their capacity to acquire the fullest benefits of the education offered them.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Network with community agencies that provide off-site mental health, reproductive health and social services and to facilitate a variety of health education sessions both for individuals and in a classroom setting for parents and school staff. Program planning and evaluation activities done in accordance with state and federal laws, regulations and school board policies. Provide the necessary professional skills to assist students and communities in problem solving and conflict resolution in a safe and healthy manner. Monitors homeless student enrollment for K-12 and maintains records to support the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act. Liaison for the school system with the county judicial system regarding proceedings and cases surrounding students for truancy, discipline, abuse, etc. Inform parents, guardians, or youth of educational and parent involvement opportunities; Collaborate and coordinate with community and school personnel; Coordinate and collaborate with the LEA Title 1 director; Maintains documentation and correspondence required for students and/or families participating in home schooling as appropriate; Makes home visits in the execution of duties as Social Worker, Homeless Grant Liaison Department of Family and Children Services system liaison; County judicial system liaison: Organizes and provides Child Abuse Protocol, Attendance, and Homelessness in-services to all schools on an annual basis; Attends local and state meetings and conferences regarding school social work and homelessness and keeps the system updated on changes and additions to policies and procedures; makes recommendations regarding system compliance; Provides in-services as necessary on related topics surrounding social work, homelessness, and truancy to school system employees; Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
