Description We are looking for an experienced Systems Administrator to support and improve a complex IT environment in Ohio. This contract opportunity with potential for a permanent role focuses on keeping infrastructure secure, dependable, and efficient across both on-premises and cloud-based systems while supporting daily business and production operations. The ideal candidate brings strong technical depth, a practical approach to troubleshooting, and the ability to work effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the day-to-day performance, maintenance, and reliability of enterprise infrastructure spanning local data center systems and cloud services. Maintain Windows and Linux server environments, including system setup, updates, patching, and ongoing administration for physical and virtual machines. Support backup, storage, and recovery solutions to protect business-critical data and improve operational resilience. Strengthen infrastructure security by applying policies, addressing vulnerabilities, managing certificates, and supporting compliance-related controls. Monitor system health and availability, investigate technical issues, and implement improvements that increase performance and stability. Provide hands-on support for printing and labeling technologies used in a manufacturing setting to help keep production activities running smoothly. Create and maintain automation scripts to streamline administrative tasks and improve efficiency across infrastructure operations. Partner with internal departments and third-party vendors while keeping technical documentation accurate, current, and organized. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or comparable hands-on experience in infrastructure administration. 6-10 years of experience supporting enterprise systems, networking, security, and core IT operations. Demonstrated background working with network technologies, including switches, firewalls, wireless platforms, and ISP connectivity. Experience supporting IT systems within a manufacturing, plant, or production-driven environment. Hands-on knowledge of virtualization and cloud platforms such as VMware and Azure. Working familiarity with Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Azure AD, and Windows-based server environments. Strong troubleshooting and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users.
