Job Description
Title Systems Administrator- Public Safety Focus Location City of Griffin Description The individual in this position maintains and provides ongoing support for the City of Griffin public safety systems, workstations, servers, disaster recovery systems, and related equipment and/or technologies. Success in this position contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of public safety and other City operations. Essential duties include the following. Provides technical support and recommends cybersecurity measures for all public safety devices, software, hardware, and related equipment and/or technologies. Provides technical and administrative support of the Records Management System (RMS), Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Message Switch (MS), and other public safety integrated systems. Provides technical support of all public safety systems in police cars, including, but not limited to, computer, modem, in-car camera system, GPS, and configurations specific to e911 & GCIC communications. Provides technical Support for the Universal Latent Workstation (ULW), Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS), and LiveScan systems for fingerprint identification, analysis, and transfer. Provides technical support of digital forensics systems, including GrayKey and Cellebrite smartphone extraction software. Provides technical support of the AXON camera, warrant system, drone, and other operational technologies. Manages data storage and security for all police departmental systems. Provides technical support to all sworn public safety personnel in their daily technological needs. Evaluates and provides technology-related recommendations for public safety personnel. Documents systems and configurations. Provides and administers network systems and enterprise management. Provides support for the VOIP system. Provides IT support and administration to all City end-users. Administers and maintains end-user accounts, permissions, and access rights through Active Directory. Maintains helpdesk support systems. Provides guidance to helpdesk administrators, as warranted. Assists with the management of wireless handheld devices/email/software, and PC remote management. Maintains backup and disaster recovery systems. Performs other duties as assigned Position Requirements Employee must have the visual ability to observe and detect obstacles, other vehicles or equipment, and pedestrians. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment and specialized equipment. The employee may be exposed to noise, machinery with moving parts, objects that move, dust, dirt, water, and gas; therefore, personal protective equipment is provided and required. The work involves frequent sitting, standing, walking, and lifting, with occasional stooping, bending, crouching, twisting, and grasping. Must be able to lift up to 20-50 pounds unassisted. Knowledge of Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) and GCIC policies and best practices. Knowledge of cybersecurity and digital forensics best practices. Knowledge of computer hardware, software, troubleshooting, and end-user support. Knowledge of virtualization technologies. Knowledge of network administration principles. Knowledge of Microsoft products (Windows Server, Exchange, SharePoint, Active Directory, Windows 10/11, M365). Knowledge of DNS, DHCP, Group Policy Objects, and other infrastructure protocols. Knowledge of maintaining high-availability systems and backups. Skill in planning, organization, and decision making. Skills in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions. Skill in oral and written communication. Skill in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and correcting system issues. Skill in installing, maintaining, and repairing a variety of computer hardware and software systems. Strong skills to be able to interact professionally and build good working relationships with others. Ability to perform as a project manager on highly technical projects. Ability to multitask multiple projects or issues simultaneously and meet firm deadlines. High school diploma or GED. BS/BA or Associates degree in Computer Science, or Computer Engineering, preferred. Minimum of five years of related experience. FAA Part 107 Class certification, preferred. CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Net+ Certifications. VMWare, Security+, Microsoft certifications, or other industry certifications, preferred. Georgia Peace Officer Standards & Training (POST) Certification, preferred. GCIC Certification, or the ability to become certified within 90 days of start date. Hourly Rate of Pay $64,708.80 annually includes competitive benefits package and generous pension plan.
