Job Description
Hazard Construction Companies is seeking a takeoff engineer with 1-3 years of experience in heavy highway construction. Candidate will contribute to a variety of projects including but not limited to site development, military, and DOT(Caltrans). We work on a variety of grading, asphalt paving and site improvement projects and seek a motivated individual to assist our estimators and project managers in the successful execution of these proposals and projects. Responsibilities:
- Assist estimating staff by performing digital quantity takeoffs for heavy-civil construction projects including grading, paving, concrete and site improvements.
- Create 2D/3D drawings, sketches, exhibits and models for estimating quantities and operations use in the field.
- Read/review plans, specifications, and other contract documents in order to perform quantity takeoffs that meet project requirements.
- Assist estimators with soliciting quotes from subcontractors and material suppliers, proposal preparation and sub/vendor quote comparison.
- Assist project team with performing quantity takeoffs and tracking quantities throughout the construction phase.
- Build overall estimating skills and develop a deeper knowledge of estimating process.
- Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
Requirements:
- Hard-working individual who is eager to learn and develop their construction knowledge and skills and who thrives in a teamwork environment.
- Knowledge of heavy-civil construction projects.
- The individual must be highly organized and able to communicate work product to others.
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or other related field.
- Excellent communication, presentation and computer skills.
- Willingness to be flexible and occasionally work long hours to meet estimate deadlines.
- Software Experience (required): Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam
- Software Experience (preferred): Agtek, GPS (Trimble or Topcon), AutoCAD All Hazard Construction positions require satisfactory completion of a physical ability test and clean drug and alcohol screening.
