Tasting Room Associate/Wine Educator

Job Overview Keuka Lake Vineyards is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Tasting Room Associate to join our small, close-knit team. The Tasting Room Associate's primary role is to create a welcoming and informative experience for guests in a winery's tasting room, promoting wine sales and building customer loyalty. They educate guests about the wines, winery, and winemaking process while also handling sales transactions and maintaining the tasting room environment. There is room for growth. For those individuals seeking additional responsibilities, the ability to function as an assistant manager for the tasting room and wine club is possible.

Starting Wage:

$17-19/hr. Both full and part-time opportunities available.

Duties:

Greets guests warmly and provides a positive first impression. Engages with guests, answers questions, and provides information about wines, the winery, and the region. Leads wine tasting experiences, guiding guests through the selection and describing the characteristics of each wine. Promotes and sells wines, wine club memberships, and other retail products. Encourages customers to purchase wines and join the wine club. Handles sales transactions using the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately and efficiently. Maintains a clean, organized, and presentable tasting room environment. Stocks wine and merchandise, polishes glassware, and assists with display arrangements. Assists with setup and breakdown for events in the tasting room. May participate in off-site events to promote the winery. Develops and maintains a strong knowledge of the winery's wines, winemaking process, and the wine region. Continues learning about wine through educational opportunities.

Skills and Qualifications:

Schedule:

Must be able to work weekends and holidays, as needed.

Customer Service:

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

Sales Ability:

Demonstrated ability to promote and sell products.

Product Knowledge:

Strong knowledge of wines and the winemaking process preferred, but not required.

Organization and Cleanliness:

Ability to maintain a tidy and organized workspace.

Physical Stamina:

Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds.

POS System Proficiency:

Experience with cash registers and point-of-sale systems.

Teamwork:

Ability to work effectively with others.
