Job Description

45 North Vineyard & Winery in Lake Leelanau is seeking a Tasting Room Manager. This person is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the tasting room and overseeing the guest experience To ensure the highest level of hospitality is being met. Candidates must be professional, articulate, a strong leader, ambitious, driven, customer service focused, dedicated, able to stay cool under pressure—especially in a fast-paced environment—and be willing to go above and beyond for the guest. The ideal candidate is warm, friendly, and generally loves chatting with people in a sincere and genuine manner. The ideal manager is also detail-oriented, organized, able to multitask, able to work smart and anticipate needs, good at prioritizing and time management, a quick learner, able to adapt quickly to different types of people and situations, and able to understand and resolve guest problems quickly. This position is full-time, ability to work weekends is a must. Ideal start time would be June/July.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee see day-to-day operations of the tasting room which include hosting tastings, and overseeing guests experience of other team member tastings, hosting tours, light food prep, providing staff feedback and coaching, managing guest reservations, tour bus reservations, private party reservations, wine club events and web sales Set and reinforce high standards for work performance and guest experience Promote the sale of wine, merchandise, and wine clubs, and ensure that team members are trained to identify and pursue sales opportunities help with hiring if needed. Train all tasting room staff, and assist with scheduling if needed. Actively coach tasting room team members, with the ability to address issues with team members, provide performance reviews as necessary Delegate tasks daily and monitor quality and completion of tasks Maintain a working knowledge of the wines, products, and procedures, meet with winemaker regulars to gain insight on all wines. Meet predetermined sales goals, drive sales Handle daily sales transactions; manage and account for cash sales Track tip outs for payroll Attend management meetings as needed Prepare and lead regular tasting room staff meetings maintain monthly Inventory records of wine, retail merchandise and tasting room supplies Assist in coordinating and attending onsite/offsite events which may include but not limited to: wine club events, VIP tours, wine dinners, festivals, and weddings
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 1 years successful management experience, ideally hospitality related with a focus on training, and customer service Confident and compassionate leader Passion for wine and customer service, strong wine knowledge is helpful Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Must be able to lift 50 lbs. 21 years or older with a valid drivers license TAMS Certified (within the first 60 days of employment) ServeSafe Certified (within the first 60 days of employment)
