Job Description

Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Embark on a fulfilling contract opportunity supporting students as an Orthopedic Impairment Assistant near Palm Desert, CA. This role is ideal for passionate paraprofessionals eager to make a daily impact by working closely with an OI Specialist in an onsite, itinerant capacity. Over the course of the academic year, you'll play an essential role in empowering students' independence, safety, and participation throughout their school day.
Qualifications & Experience Sought:
Experience as a school paraprofessional or instructional assistant (preferred) Bilingual Spanish proficiency required CPI Certification (required) Training with assistive technology and mobility devices (required) CNA or medical training (preferred) Administrative skills—efficiency in handling documentation, reports, and student records is an asset Prior experience in California schools is highly valued
Key Responsibilities:
Support the OI Specialist in monitoring and assisting students using walkers, wheelchairs, and other adaptive equipment Help oversee the use and proper training of mobility and assistive devices, ensuring student safety at all times Collaborate as an itinerant team member to serve students across various sites as needed Document and report observations, equipment usage, and student progress to the appropriate staff Foster positive, inclusive environments where students are encouraged and empowered Adapt to the dynamic needs of the caseload and provide prompt support as situations arise This position offers a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week during the academic year, giving you the opportunity to build meaningful relationships and contribute to truly life-changing outcomes.
