Job Description
Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Empower students with visual impairments to achieve their full potential by supporting a diverse group of learners in a dynamic educational environment. This contract opportunity offers the chance to collaborate with educational professionals and leverage your expertise as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired. Ideal for educators passionate about individualized instruction and flexible, adaptive learning.
Key Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Licensed or certified Teacher for the Visually Impaired; Orientation and Mobility (O&M) certification a plus Experience providing vision support services within school settings, with a tailored approach to students' varying needs Familiarity with both in-person and virtual/online teaching formats Expertise in specialized instructional strategies for students with low vision at different ability levels Ability to supply or guide the procurement of instructional materials Strong communication and collaborative skills with multidisciplinary teamsResponsibilities and Duties:
Deliver engaging, interactive lessons for up to 10 students, with service frequency ranging from 30 minutes per quarter to 30 minutes per week, averaging 10-12 hours weekly Adjust service hours to 18-20 weekly hours if dual-certified in Orientation and Mobility, with opportunities to increase impact Provide direct vision support services, both in-person (preferred) and virtually if required Develop and implement individualized strategies that promote participation and learning for students with varying degrees of vision impairment Confirm ability to supply or coordinate instructional materials as part of your services Offer O&M services and adaptability for online provision if needed Participate fully in the school's 9-week session schedule, with 2-week breaks throughout the academic year Enjoy the flexibility of a contract role within a supportive educational structure.
