POSITION SUMMARY
Plans, organizes and delivers programs of instruction that support the premise that high expectations for all students are possible.
REPORTS TO
Principal and Director of Special Education

Students and Instructional Assistants
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrates proficiency in planning developmentally appropriate, research-based instruction that addresses Kentucky's learning goals and outcomes for students regardless of the students' disabilities. Closely monitor and document the progress toward mastery of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) of students with disabilities and report this information both orally and in writing at the students' annual review meetings. Collaborates with the school psychologist and any related services personnel to assist in gathering evaluation data for the assessment process for students with disabilities. Ensures that students with disabilities are being provided all the services listed in their IEPs. Ensure students with disabilities are placed in and receiving services in their least restrictive environments (LRE). Assists any educationally relevant personnel (administrators, teachers, assistants and/or related services personnel) in understanding and carrying out the accommodations listed in the IEPs of students with disabilities. Assists individual students with self-help skills, as needed. Coordinates and supervises work experience and on-campus job training programs involving students who are mentally disabled, physically disabled and/or emotionally/behaviorally challenged. Works cooperatively with regular classroom teachers who have students with disabilities in their classes, interpreting the abilities and disabilities of these students to educationally relevant staff and assisting the students with regular class assignments. Collaborates frequently with parents and professional staff members regarding the education, social and personal problems of students with disabilities. Collaborates with professional staff members in resolving the unique psychological or disciplinary problems of each student. Assists the special needs students in making a realistic assessment of his abilities and in establishing educational and occupational goals in keeping with these abilities. Assists the students in completing their Individual Learning Plan (ILP) each school year from the 8th grade or age 14, whichever comes first, as well as coordinates surveys, inventories and parent information for the transitioning planning that is required for students with disabilities. Participates in professional development opportunities related to teaching methods and strategies for students with special needs. Keeps attendance records and all other records pertinent to the special needs programs required by state and local regulations. Includes comprehensive and appropriate resources for teaching and learning situations. Makes efficient use of human, physical and time resources. Adheres to the timelines set out in the regulations and procedures for special education. Utilizes the online student information system in order to accurately and efficiently complete all required due process paperwork for students with disabilities. Performs such other tasks as may be requested by immediate supervisor.
EDUCATION
Employee shall hold a bachelor's degree or higher and the required Kentucky certificate for the assigned position; hold a Kentucky teacher certificate for assigned position through Education Professional Standards Board.
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
