Job Description

Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact by providing essential educational services to students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing on a contract basis. You will play a key role in supporting a small group of students in a school district near Gilbert, LA, delivering specialized instruction tailored to their unique communication needs.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Valid teaching certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing. Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other relevant communication modalities. Experience working within school settings or with K-12 students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide direct DHH services to a handful of students, adapting instruction to individual learning styles and needs. Collaborate with educators, specialists, and families to create an inclusive and supportive educational environment. Conduct assessments, monitor progress, and maintain documentation in compliance with district and legal requirements. Offer consultative support to school staff to foster understanding and successful integration of DHH students. Guide and participate in IEP meetings, ensuring student goals are clear and measurable. Advocate for appropriate accommodations and resources to support student achievement and participation.
