Job Description
Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Make a significant impact as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired, supporting students across multiple counties during the 2026-2027 school year. This contract opportunity offers the flexibility of in-person or virtual (VOCO) work, providing valuable educational services to K-12 students in Jackson, Josephine, Douglas, Klamath, and Lake Counties. In this dynamic role, you'll collaborate with school staff and families to promote access and success for students with visual impairments. Your expertise will help ensure each student has the individualized support needed to thrive academically and socially.
Qualifications & Experience:
Valid Oregon certification/licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) Experience or training with K-12 populations is highly desirable Knowledge of IEP development and effective instructional strategies Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams Comfortable with technology and virtual teaching platforms (for VOCO setting) Organized, flexible, and attentive to student needsCore Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction to students who are blind or visually impaired, adapting materials and curriculum as needed Assess student abilities and help develop IEP goals tailored to each learner Consult and collaborate with teachers, paraprofessionals, and families to ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications Support use of assistive technology and teach accessible skills related to orientation and mobility when appropriate Maintain accurate records, progress reports, and documentation required by state and district guidelines By taking on this important position, you'll play a critical role in helping visually impaired students succeed throughout the region.
