Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Passionate about supporting students with visual impairments? This contract opportunity offers a dynamic environment where you'll make a direct impact on K-12+ learners. Two positions are available for experienced Teachers of the Visually Impaired, handling itinerant caseloads across geographically grouped schools in the Chattanooga region. Enjoy a varied schedule, with both full-time (35 hours per week) and potential part-time options for the upcoming academic year, beginning August 5, 2026 and ending May 19, 2027.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
Valid DOE certification required At least five years of experience as a Virtual TVI (for virtual consideration) Skilled in Braille instruction and assistive technology; knowledge of Federal Quota program is a plus Familiarity with TN Pulse platform for IEP documentation Comfortable supporting students in general education and specialized settings Fingerprinting and compliance with time-sensitive credentialing requiredPrimary Responsibilities:
Deliver direct instruction, consultation, and support services for K-12+ students with visual impairments, including those with additional disabilities Serve as an essential part of IEP teams, collaborating with educators, students, and families Develop and implement individualized learning strategies utilizing assistive technology, including Chromebooks Travel between assigned schools within a manageable geographic area to provide service Keep thorough records and ensure compliance with state and district procedures This position embraces a flexible mindset—enabling you to work with both mainstream and uniquely challenged students, while participating actively in a collaborative, student-focused community.
