Direct and manage the theatre arts program at High School and Middle School campuses. Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree from accredited university Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned [Physical Education Teachers:
Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) certification from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or similar nationally recognized association (to be maintained while holding the position)] Demonstrated competency in theatre arts Experience directing One Act PlaySpecial Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of core academic subject assigned Knowledge of curriculum and instruction Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Knowledge of overall operation of theatre arts, productions, and programs Knowledge of University Interscholastic League (UIL) rules Ability to manage budget Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior Ability to interpret data Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skillsExperience:
Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experienceMajor Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Strategies Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in individual student differences. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned and present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations. Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP). Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements. Plan and assign work to instructional aide(s) and volunteer(s) and oversee completion. Provide instruction and leadership to students in all aspects of theatre productions and methodologies such as staging, acting techniques, set design, costumes, and props. Establish performance requirements, enforce academic requirements, and verify each student's eligibility to participate in the program. Provide for theatre arts participation at extracurricular events and shows. Coordinate rehearsals, productions, and performances. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP). Work with other members of the staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements. Obtain and use evaluative findings (including student achievement data) to determine program effectiveness and ensure that program renewal is continuous and responds to student needs. Student Growth and Development Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal. Be a positive role model for students; support mission of school district. Classroom Management and Organization Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students. Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required. Accompany and supervise students on out-of-town trip activities and arrange transportation, lodging, and meals for out-of-town events. Budget and Inventory Develop and administer budget based on documented program needs and ensure that operations are cost effective and funds are managed wisely. Coordinate fundraising activities and manage funds. Maintain current inventory of all fixed assets related to the program. Oversee cleaning, repairing, and storing of all equipment. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required. Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required. Comply with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rule, UIL rules, and board policy in the band area. Communication Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members. Professional Growth and Development Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills. Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required. Comply with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rule, UIL rules, and board policy in the band area.
