Job Description

As Cerebral Staffing , we are looking for a dedicated Team Leader to join our team supporting our client, John Deere , at the Dubuque Works facility in Dubuque, IA . Backhoe Operations Team Leader This is a high-impact leadership role offering a long-term 16+ month contract paying up to $40/hr , including 2 Weeks of PTO . Operating as a vital supervisor on the shop floor, you will manage individual and department performance across safety, quality, delivery, and efficiency metrics to support John Deere's world-class Backhoe Operations.
Position Details & Compensation Pay Rate:
Up to $40/hr (W2).
Location:
100% Onsite in Dubuque, IA.
Duration:
16+ Months.
Shift:
3rd Shift (10:30 PM - 6:00 AM production hours).
Overtime:
Required as necessary (weekdays or weekends, including some Saturday work) to meet operational goals.

Core Responsibilities Operations Leadership:
Manage daily staffing and line moves to hit shift production targets. Drive department-level support for 5S implementation, Continuous Improvement (CI), manpower planning, and operating budgets.
Team Supervision & Policy Enforcement:
Supervise assigned personnel and conduct crucial conversations, including enforcing company policies, work rules, and taking corrective action/discipline when required.
Safety Culture & SERA:
Lead safety communications, manage the Safety and Ergonomic Risk Assessment (SERA) process, and prompt near-miss reporting to implement quick, thorough corrective actions.
Quality & Training Compliance:
Ensure operators have appropriate training, clear work instructions, and necessary tooling to guarantee manufactured products exceed established quality standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Communicate across multiple plant functions, including engineering, supply management, operations, and labor relations/HR.
Required Skills & Experience Union Environment:
2 or more years of experience working in a unionized manufacturing setting.
Manufacturing & Quality Principles:
1 or more years of experience working with manufacturing and quality management tools and processes.
Communication & Decision Making:
Proven ability to make sound, proactive decisions in a high-pressure or time-sensitive environment, alongside excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Shift/OT Flexibility:
Full willingness to work 3rd shift and overtime/weekends as required to support on-time delivery.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology, Operations, Business/Management, Supply Management, OR equivalent related work history. What Makes You Stand Out 1 or more years of leadership/supervisor experience specifically in a union environment. 1 or more years of experience with production control systems (preferably within John Deere). Experience with shop floor manufacturing and incentive pay systems (such as CIPP). Cross-functional background in Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Material Control, or Supply Management. Proficiency with operating and information systems (Excel, SAP, SharePoint, PowerBI).
