Technical Development Specialist 3.7 3.7 out of 5 stars 7777 Kia Pkwy, West Point, GA 31833 Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia 203 reviews General Summary Responsible for developing and implementing engineering solutions and training programs that support technical operations, enhance equipment functionality, and improve production efficiency. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Conduct technical evaluations to identify equipment optimization opportunities. Analyze and troubleshoot production and training equipment issues and recommend improvements. Develop and oversee maintenance schedules and technical improvement plans for equipment in the Technical Resource Center, ensuring alignment with engineering standards and operational requirements. Design and implement technical training programs that cover engineering principles, operational standards, and hands-on equipment usage. Develop instructional materials, exercises, and documentation that integrate advanced engineering methodologies. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify inefficiencies in production processes. Propose and implement engineering solutions that reduce downtime, improve quality, and increase productivity. Lead projects that leverage lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement practices to optimize technical workflows and resource allocation. Analyze technical performance data to evaluate the effectiveness of engineering solutions and training programs. Use data to refine processes and drive ongoing improvement initiatives. Prepare reports detailing engineering project outcomes, training metrics, and equipment performance to inform strategic decision-making. Work closely with internal technical teams, production management, and external engineering consultants to ensure that all engineering and training solutions align with company objectives. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering an environment of continuous learning and engineering excellence. Qualifications & Job Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related field along with two (2) years of progressive experience in the industrial training field, preferably within the automotive industry OR Associate's Degree in a technical field along with four (4) or more years of engineering experience may be considered. Demonstrated ability of building relationships, credibility and partnering with business leaders and peers. Project management experience in technical environments: Ability to lead engineering projects from concept to implementation. Strong communication skills, both written and oral. Confidently interact with trainees, management, and members from external training organizations. Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion to complete job duties that affect business objectives, policies, practices, and conditions. Reasonable accommodations may be made to those who are able to perform the essential duties of the job. Specialized Skills and Knowledge Required Experience using Microsoft Office 365. Experience with SAP system preferred. Proficiency in engineering software tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar for equipment design and troubleshooting. Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies is highly desirable.
