Job Description

Job Title:
Technician Job Description The Technician installs, inspects, maintains, and repairs a wide range of industrial valves, including ball, gate, globe, and safety relief valves, along with their associated actuators. This role ensures the safe and efficient flow of liquids and gases through complex piping systems that support industries such as oil and gas, power generation, and manufacturing. The Technician performs both shop and field work, following industry standards and quality control programs. Responsibilities Install, inspect, maintain, and repair industrial valves, including ball, gate, globe, and safety relief valves, and their accompanying actuators. Disassemble valves to clean, inspect, and evaluate components for wear, damage, or defects. Perform machining, lapping, and painting of valve components to restore proper function and extend service life. Conduct pressure, leak, and flow testing using certified equipment to verify valve performance and compliance with industry standards such as API. Calibrate instrumentation and control devices associated with valves and actuators to ensure accurate and reliable operation. Diagnose mechanical and electrical malfunctions in valve assemblies and actuators, including pneumatic, hydraulic, and electric types. Identify root causes of equipment failures and recommend appropriate repair or replacement solutions. Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspections, repairs, test results, and materials used in accordance with established quality control programs. Perform field service work at customer facilities such as refineries and power plants, ensuring safe and efficient completion of on-site assignments. Carry out shop-based service and repair activities within a central repair facility, following established procedures and safety practices. Follow all applicable safety procedures and industry best practices while working with pressurized systems and industrial equipment. Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and customers to coordinate work, communicate findings, and ensure customer satisfaction. Essential Skills Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience working on industrial equipment and components. Proficiency in disassembling, cleaning, inspecting, and reassembling industrial valves and related components. Ability to perform machining, lapping, and basic finishing work on valve parts. Experience conducting pressure, leak, and flow testing using certified testing equipment. Familiarity with industry standards such as API for valve testing and performance. Skill in calibrating instrumentation and control devices associated with valves and actuators. Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical issues in valve assemblies and actuators, including pneumatic, hydraulic, and electric systems. Competence in maintaining accurate documentation for inspections, repairs, testing, and materials in line with quality control requirements. Capability to perform both field and shop service work, including on-site work at industrial facilities. Commitment to following safety procedures and working safely around pressurized systems and industrial machinery. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working with valves and actuators in industries such as oil and gas, power generation, or manufacturing. Exposure to quality control programs and compliance with industry standards. Comfort working in both customer-facing field roles and in a central repair or fabrication facility. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Effective communication skills to document work performed and coordinate with internal teams and customers. Work Environment The role is based in a fabrication and repair environment that includes both shop and field settings. In the shop, you work in a clean, organized facility equipped for valve disassembly, machining, lapping, painting, and testing with certified equipment. Field work may involve travel to customer sites such as refineries and power plants, where you perform on-site inspections, maintenance, and repairs. The position follows a stable first-shift schedule, and you can expect to work around industrial machinery, pressurized systems, and standard fabrication tools while adhering to all safety and operational procedures. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Eight Mile, AL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr.
