401(k) Competitive salary Dental insurance Health insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Job Overview AIMS Locum Tenens is seeking a qualified Otolaryngology Technician to provide outpatient clinical and procedural support within the ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) Clinic at Mike O'Callaghan Military Medical Center (MOMMC). The technician will assist physicians, nurses, and healthcare staff in delivering patient care for individuals receiving ENT evaluations, procedures, and treatments. Duties include patient intake, procedural assistance, equipment setup and maintenance, documentation, patient education support, and coordination of clinic operations while ensuring compliance with DHA and military healthcare standards. General Duties Perform duties within the scope authorized by the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF). Follow all PWS, DHA, HIPAA, infection prevention, and patient safety requirements. Participate in clinic meetings, training activities, and quality improvement initiatives. Specific Duties Prepare examination and procedure rooms prior to patient appointments. Escort and prepare patients for ENT examinations, procedures, and treatments. Obtain and document patient histories, allergies, medications, and vital signs as directed. Assist physicians and nurses during ENT procedures, examinations, and minor surgical treatments. Prepare instruments, equipment, and supplies for clinic and procedure use. Operate and maintain ENT specialty equipment including scopes, suction equipment, and exam instruments. Ensure proper cleaning, sterilization, and storage of instruments and equipment according to infection control standards. Identify malfunctioning equipment and coordinate repair or replacement as needed. Maintain accurate electronic medical record documentation and patient information updates. Assist with scheduling, referrals, follow-up appointments, and clinic workflow coordination. Reinforce provider instructions and assist with patient education regarding procedures and follow-up care. Maintain stocked, clean, and operational exam and treatment areas. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff to support continuity of patient care.
Qualifications Degree:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Education Completion of a medical assistant, surgical technician, healthcare technician, corpsman, or related allied health training program is preferred. Certification Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross preferred. Experience Minimum of one (1) year of outpatient clinic, surgical support, specialty clinic, or direct patient care experience preferred. Experience supporting ENT/Otolaryngology clinics, surgical specialties, or procedural environments is highly desirable. Licensure No specific state licensure required unless otherwise mandated by local or federal regulations. Skills and Abilities Strong outpatient clinical support and patient care skills Ability to assist with specialty ENT procedures and examinations Knowledge of sterile technique and infection control procedures Strong organizational and multitasking abilities Excellent patient communication and customer service skills Ability to operate and maintain specialty clinical equipment Strong electronic medical record documentation skills Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary healthcare teams Familiarity with military healthcare systems and TRICARE is preferred Schedule Monday through Friday Standard clinic schedule: 0730 - 1630 Surgical/procedure support days may require hours from 0700 - 1600 Maximum 40 hours per week No on-call requirement Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods Ability to assist with patient movement and positioning Ability to lift and transport clinical equipment and supplies Manual dexterity sufficient for handling instruments and equipment Work Environment This position is performed in a military outpatient Otolaryngology clinic environment within Mike O'Callaghan Military Medical Center. The work setting includes direct patient interaction, specialty procedures, equipment handling, interdisciplinary collaboration, and electronic medical documentation. Immunization Requirement Must comply with all DHA and Medical Employee Health Program (MEHP) requirements, including tuberculosis screening, annual influenza vaccination, and required immunizations. Security Requirement Must successfully complete all background investigations, credentialing requirements, and installation access procedures required for work on Nellis Air Force Base.
