Under general supervision, the Technician provides technical support and maintenance for computer hardware, software, network equipment, and peripheral devices across Northampton County Schools. This role supports staff and students by troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and maintaining technology to ensure smooth operation of instructional and administrative systems.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Install, configure, upgrade, and repair computers, mobile devices, Chromebooks, printers, VOIP phones, peripherals, and software applications. Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network connectivity issues at school sites. Perform routine maintenance and preventive repairs on technology equipment. Provide technical support and training to staff and students on the use of computers, software, and instructional technology. Keep track of daily work using help desk software (ticketing system) Assist in managing and maintaining inventory and records of technology assets using asset management system. Collaborate with district technology staff to support network operations and system updates. Participate in technology deployment projects, including one-to-one device initiatives. Maintain security protocols and assist with management of user accounts and permissions. Assist with technology planning, procurement, and documentation as needed. Perform other duties as assigned to support district technology goals.Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree or coursework in computer science, information technology, or related field. Experience in computer hardware repair, software installation, and troubleshooting in an educational or similar environment. Knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems, common software applications, and basic networking and wireless concepts. Ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical users. Valid driver's license and ability to travel between school sites as needed. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Preferred Qualifications:
CompTIA A+ or Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) certifications are a plus. Experience with VM Ware virtual environment Experience with Windows domain environment Experince with Google Apps for Education environment Experience with Cisco networking environmentPhysical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry computer equipment and peripherals. Ability to work on ladders or in confined spaces for equipment installation and maintenance.Position Type:
