Job Description
Forrest T. Jones & Company, Inc., and its affiliates ("FTJ"), provide insurance and insurance related services to clients, corporations, employers and individuals. These services include providing benefits through innovative life and health insurance plans, financial services, and customized insurance products for niche markets. We offer coThe Actuarial Analyst - Financial Reporting role is responsible for supporting the reserve development, valuation measures, and other tasks incorporated with periodic financial reporting. This includes contributing to internal financial statements and reporting required by external regulatory entities. The role requires significant interaction and coordination with other Actuarial team members as well as other areas of the company, notably the Accounting team. The role also will provide support for other functions provided by the Actuarial Services unit, both recurring and ad hoc. Expectations
- Understand and coordinate the development of policy and claim reserves for Life, Health, and Annuity products.
- Maintain and utilize the company's valuation software.
- Organize reserve and other financial schedules in a manner that facilitates the production of the financial statements, analytics, and other reports.
- Close coordination with other departments to communicate the specifications and final products for deliverables.
- Provide support to Actuarial Service's other tasks and responsibilities as needed. Competencies
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office software, including Word; Expert level for Excel
- Experience in database utilities; Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL Server Management, or equivalent database management and reporting tools strongly preferred.
- Excellent organization, math, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Self-motivated/self-starter.
- Detailed oriented with a focus on accurate deliverables.
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadliness while working on multiple projects. Requisites
- Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics or related field.
- 1-5 years of experience in the life and supplementary health insurance industry preferred.
- Experience with Statutory Financial Reporting functions and requirements.
- Expert in use of Microsoft Excel; strong competency with database utilities.
- Interest in the SOA examination pathway is encouraged but not required.
