Job Description

A top-tier global investment firm with a dedicated healthcare operating team is seeking an experienced actuary to support portfolio value creation across employer-sponsored health plans. This role sits at the intersection of actuarial analytics, benefits strategy, and executive advisory - partnering with leadership teams to evaluate cost, risk, and opportunities across complex, self-insured benefit programs. You'll work directly with portfolio company HR/Finance leaders, external advisors, and internal investment stakeholders to translate healthcare data into clear, actionable decisions - both for ongoing portfolio initiatives and for new investment diligence. What you'll do Partner with business leaders to assess health plan performance, interpret results, and guide decisions Evaluate opportunities across plan funding, benefit design, contributions, stop-loss strategy, and vendor optimization Support integration/harmonization strategy in M&A scenarios Conduct healthcare cost and risk assessments for prospective acquisitions Identify actionable levers to improve affordability and outcomes post-close Analyze cost drivers, trend, and performance across a multi-company portfolio Build and maintain methodologies to measure impact, ROI, and trend mitigation for leadership reporting Model the financial impact of current and future initiatives using complex datasets What we're looking for Bachelor's degree required 8+ years in healthcare actuarial work with strong experience with self-insured employer-sponsored plans Prior consulting, client-facing, and/or executive advisory experience required ASA designation (FSA preferred) Excellent communication skills - can simplify complexity and guide decision-making
