Senior BI Engineer If you know Power BI beyond just building dashboards—and care about building well-structured, scalable, and trusted data products—this is a role where you'll stand out. Vaco is partnering with a high-growth client to bring in a Power BI expert who will help shape how data is modeled, delivered, and used across the business. This isn't about one-off reporting. It's about building a foundation that enables better, faster decision-making at scale. You'll sit at the intersection of data engineering and analytics—partnering with stakeholders, cleaning up complex data challenges, and delivering solutions people actually rely on. What You'll Own Define and elevate Power BI standards across the organization—from data models to governance to deployment practices Build scalable semantic models and high-performing reports that go beyond surface-level insights Partner closely with Finance, Operations, and business leaders to translate ambiguity into actionable data solutions Turn messy, fragmented data into clean, usable, and trusted reporting layers Optimize performance across datasets, models, and queries to ensure a seamless end-user experience Introduce and apply modern capabilities (AI, Copilot, automation) to accelerate insights and reduce manual effort Drive adoption and usability—ensuring what you build actually gets used How You'll Make an Impact Bring structure and consistency to how Power BI is used across teams Improve confidence in data by strengthening governance, quality, and modeling practices Reduce reporting friction by designing solutions that scale—not break under growth Act as a trusted advisor who pushes for better, smarter ways of working with data What You Bring Core Expertise Deep experience with Power BI (DAX, semantic modeling, performance tuning, workspace governance) Strong SQL skills with experience building and optimizing transformations Proven track record in dimensional modeling (star/snowflake schemas, scalable data design) Experience building and maintaining enterprise-grade data models and reporting solutions Modern Data Stack & Practices Hands-on experience with CI/CD for Power BI (Git, DevOps, deployment pipelines) Familiarity with ELT processes and improving pipeline performance Exposure to AI-enabled reporting (Power BI Copilot or similar) Experience working with large, complex datasets in cloud data environments Nice to Have Experience with self-service analytics tools like ThoughtSpot Background in Python or R for advanced analytics or automation Exposure to modern data architecture and cloud platforms How You Work You think in terms of systems, not one-off solutions You're comfortable pushing back and asking better questions about the data You balance technical depth with the ability to communicate clearly to non-technical audiences You're naturally curious and always looking for ways to improve how things are done You bring a practical, solutions-first mindset and enjoy working cross-functionally Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law in geographies that require salary range disclosure, Vaco/Highspring notes the salary range for the role is noted in this job posting. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company's 401(k) retirement plan.
