The candidate will assist the AI architect and other developers in the implementation of use cases for optimizing engineering workflows, processes or tools with AI or automation assisted solutions and developing matching solutions to improve efficiency, quality and execution time of Engineering activities. We are looking for a student in the field of software development, AI and machine learning that is interested in applying those skills in a diverse group of Engineering talent developing rail vehicles across three product lines and multiple exciting public transportation projects.
Responsibilities in this role involve:
Leverage existing solutions from the areas of data analytics, process automation, application development and AI to solve automation problems across Engineering disciplines Test and benchmark partially or fully developed AI/automation-based solutions regarding their impact to Engineering tasks/processes/workflows Develop new solutions fitting identified use cases Align with similar experts across the Siemens corporation worldwide to commonize or jointly develop AI assistance or automation solutions Depending on workload and business needs as well as to further product understanding, the focus areas above may be enhanced by traditional software development work on train control or diagnostics software deployed on our vehicles' control units. Desired skills for this role include: Prior experience or coursework in a technical role, such as data science, machine learning engineering or software development (a focus on AI or machine learning preferred) Working with Large Language Models (LLMs) and preferably Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) techniques Data storage, modelling and aggregation using platforms or tools such as AWS, snowflake, alteryx, DBT Experience with development environments for AI or automation such as UIPath Studio, CoPilot Studio, Azure ML Studio/AI Foundry or similar Experience with version control systems such as Git or equivalent Experience working with APIs is a plus good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to exchange with experts on complex technical concepts Ability to quickly learn new technologies and adapt to evolving needs and capabilities Ability to translate business problems to technical logic and practical solutions Desired education and work experience: Student in Computer Science or similar field with 1 or more years of completed experience or course work in the above areas Additional relevant experience gained as part of other internships or educational programs can be considered Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without needing current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Work on-site and in the office 5 days/week You'll Benefit From The hourly pay range for this position is $26.00 per hour for first time Interns or $30.00 per hour for returning Interns. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
