Within the AstraZeneca Cell Therapy Enterprise, our ambition is to realize the full potential of cell therapy for people living with cancer, immune-mediated and rare diseases around the world. This unit has responsibility for the value chain from discovery through to late-stage development and commercialization. We are rapidly progressing a broad pipeline of cell therapies in collaboration with AstraZeneca's Therapeutic Area Units. The Data and AI Productivity role is a high-impact leadership role accountable for shaping and driving the end-to-end strategy and utilization of AI and Data Science across the Cell Therapy Enterprise. You will work with senior leaders across Cell Therapy and with IT and Enterprise AI leadership to develop strategic initiatives, partnerships, and data management to enable Cell Therapy as an AI-native organization. Key Responsibilities AI and Data Enablement of Cell Therapy Enterprise Develop AI solutions specifical to Cell Therapy, including real-world data analytical tools, live data processing capabilities, and automation pipelines. Oversee performance and data dashboards and databases and feature augmentation to maintain clinical relevance. Embed continuous improvement (retrospectives, playbooks, mentoring) to propagate data‑centric workflows across study teams. AI in Cell Therapy clinical development and commercialization Frame and prioritize activities that accelerate Ph I/II decisions and increase Ph III probability of success, including optimal dose/schedule, biomarker‑driven patient selection, combination‑therapy hypothesis generation, and early futility or go/no‑go predictions. Partner with data engineering, bioinformatics, and clinical statistics leads to deliver insights for protocol amendments, cohort expansions, or asset‑strategy reviews. Develop AI and data solutions that accelerate commercialization and care delivery of our Cell Therapy portfolio. Technology Scouting and Portfolio Prioritization Identify and evaluate AI agents, multimodal analytics, real‑world data platforms, and academic collaborations. Provide horizon scanning and competitive intelligence on disruptive technologies and evolving regulatory guidance for AI‑enabled trials. Negotiate and manage collaboration agreements, value‑share models, and joint milestones with AI start‑ups, established companies, academic labs, and cloud vendors; align deliverables to asset plans. Cross-functional leadership Liaise with the EAI and IT units to develop end-to-end solutions, raising awareness of new technologies, informing commercial implications, and shaping commercial models where applicable. Build investment cases quantifying impact on cycle time, cost, and probability of success; prioritize pilots within the Cell Therapy portfolio and working closely with EAI and cross-AZ IT units. Manage required AI and Data governance processes on behalf of the Cell Therapy Enterprise; Represent the Cell Therapy Enterprise on relevant governance and leadership bodies Qualifications Advanced degree (MD, PharmD, PhD, or MSc) with 5+ years in the life sciences or technology industries. Deep knowledge of disease biology, translational biomarkers, and regulatory expectations for AI‑generated evidence. Demonstrated experience implementing AI/ML concepts, data‑engineering pipelines, and agile sprint management in a matrixed environment. Proven ability to translate emerging technologies into compliant capabilities that improve enrolment, decision speed, and patient benefit. Influential communicator able to distill complex analytics for non‑experts and secure funding for innovation. Curiosity, pragmatism, and a relentless focus on delivering transformative medicines.

We have one seat available, and we hope it's yours. The annual base pay for this position ranges from $188,497 to $282,746. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
