Full Job Description Job Description:
We are hiring awesome humans, and we hope that includes you! Are you looking for more than just a job? At Chewy, you'll find yourself on a career path with other awesome humans, like yourself. You'll be part of a culture that values everything that you do, who you are, and the goals you have set for your career. We want to give you the opportunity to grow, earn competitive pay, and be happy while you do it. Sounds simple, but we love it. Your Opportunity You will join Chewy's advanced technology organization as an AI Technologist II—part of a small, fast-moving team building AI-powered systems that apply cutting-edge research. This is a hands-on role designed for experienced builders who know the fastest path to learning is trial, error, and iteration—not endless planning or documents. You'll thrive in ambiguity, test bold ideas by building prototypes, and scale the ones that succeed. And while your focus will be on prototyping, your ideas have the potential to grow into something much bigger—helping the organization see what's new and possible. What You'll Do Own the end-to-end process of identifying a problem, building prototypes, and refining toward impact. Build fearlessly—create multiple versions, discard what doesn't work, and double down on what does. Thrive in ambiguity—testing and refining ideas through trial and error, and evolving designs based on what you learn. Work closely in a small, agile team that values speed, independence, and shared ownership. Bring creativity and technical skill together with the joy of building, experimenting, and learning to craft tools and systems that matter. What You'll Need Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field—or another field paired with a demonstrated ability to build and apply technology in practice. Hands-on experience developing and deploying AI systems, with the ability to identify and frame problems worth solving. Proficiency in Python and demonstrated ability to use AI systems in practice. Strong analytical skills and fluency in experimental design and evaluation. Excellent collaboration and communication abilities, with access to experts across the company to spark ideas and accelerate progress. Bonus Master's degree with specialization in AI/ML or a related field. Experience with hackathons, open-source projects, or side projects that demonstrate passion for building. Contributions to academic publications or innovation showcases. What You'll Get A place where you can be your authentic self and grow your career. Work in a culture that cares, with managers who value you and your contributions. Empowerment to think big, take risks, and deliver results. Connections with a diverse group of Chewtopians through Team Member Resource Groups and inclusive programs. Comprehensive medical, dental, vision benefits, in addition to wellness programs and resources. The base salary range for this role is $100,000 - $160,000.00. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant. C08+ positions may also be eligible for annual bonus. We offer different types of insurance and benefits, such as medical/Rx, vision, dental, life, disability, hospital indemnity, critical illness, and accident. We offer parental leave, family services benefits, backup dependent care, flexible spending accounts, telemedicine, pet adoption reimbursement, employee assistance program, and many discounts including 10% off pet insurance and 20% off at Chewy.com. Exempt salary team members have unlimited PTO, subject to manager approval. Team members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations. Chewy is an equal opportunity employer.
