Permanent AI Scientist (Genomics Foundation Models) Cambridge, MA. $200,000 to $230,000 base salary plus bonus and equity This is a unique opportunity to drive cutting-edge research at the intersection of AI, genomics, and healthcare. You will play a central role in shaping the research direction of an early-stage, high-growth team building foundational models to transform how complex diseases are detected and monitored. With strong backing and access to high-quality multimodal data, this role offers both scientific depth and real-world impact. The Company They are an early-stage, well-funded organisation applying advanced machine learning to healthcare, with a focus on improving early detection and long-term patient outcomes. Their approach combines genomic, clinical, and longitudinal data to develop next-generation predictive systems. The Role
  • Define and drive research strategy across AI, genomics, and oncology to maintain a state-of-the-art approach
  • Design, train, and evaluate machine learning models for biomarker detection, risk stratification, and longitudinal patient monitoring
  • Develop and advance foundation models and reinforcement learning systems for healthcare applications
  • Lead scientific publications, conference contributions, and technical knowledge sharing
  • Partner with engineering teams to translate research into production-grade systems used in clinical workflows
  • Build rigorous evaluation frameworks and validation methodologies to meet scientific and clinical standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including clinicians, researchers, and product teams Your Skills & Experience
  • Strong academic background in machine learning, computational biology, or a related field
  • Proven track record of research contributions in applied AI, including large-scale or foundation models
  • Hands-on experience developing and evaluating machine learning models using Python and frameworks such as PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow
  • Experience working with modern ML infrastructure, including GPU or TPU environments and scalable pipelines
  • Strong understanding of experimental design, evaluation, and statistical rigor
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both scientific and non-technical audiences What They Offer
