Permanent AI Engineer (Genomics / Foundation Models) Cambridge, MA. $200,000 to $230,000 base salary plus bonus and equity This is a rare opportunity to join an early-stage AI team working at the intersection of healthcare, genomics, and machine learning. You will help build production systems powered by foundation models and multimodal healthcare data, with the goal of transforming how complex diseases are detected and monitored. The role offers significant ownership and the chance to shape technical direction from the ground up. Their approach combines multiple data sources, including genomic and longitudinal patient data, to build next-generation predictive systems. The Role
  • Design, build, and deploy machine learning systems for complex, real-world healthcare applications
  • Develop and productionise foundation models and multimodal learning systems operating on genomic and healthcare datasets
  • Build scalable ML pipelines covering data ingestion, feature engineering, training, and model serving on cloud platforms
  • Develop reinforcement learning and predictive models for risk stratification and longitudinal monitoring
  • Translate cutting-edge research into production-grade systems used in clinical workflows
  • Implement robust evaluation, testing, and monitoring frameworks to ensure system reliability and performance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including clinicians, product, and engineering stakeholders Your Skills & Experience
  • Strong commercial experience building and deploying machine learning models in production environments
  • Proficiency in Python and modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow
  • Experience developing ML infrastructure and pipelines using cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP
  • Solid software engineering fundamentals including testing, CI CD, and version control
  • Experience working with complex or multimodal datasets
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams What They Offer
