Job description VitaKey is a start-up founded out of the Langer Lab, MIT, developing and commercializing proprietary technology for controlled, targeted, and extended delivery of macronutrients, micronutrients, probiotics, biologics, small molecules, etc. to be included in everyday foods and beverages to improve human health. We are developing our in-house AI/ML systems and models at our Durham NC HQ and are building a team to lead these efforts. VitaKey.com Role Summary VitaKey Inc. is seeking a dedicated and highly innovative Computer Scientist/AI Engineer/Data Scientist with expertise in the development of deployed AI models to lead the development and implementation efforts of our thriving AI and ML systems. This position will be responsible for day-to-day development, maintenance and integration of custom AI/ML pipelines built on data from VitaKey's novel datasets from its biological and formulation science experiments. Duties and Responsibilities Lead, develop, validate and optimize models for biological outcomes and formulation performance, leveraging multi-omics, clinical, in vitro, and real-world data. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R D, data science, clinical, manufacturing) to translate AI-driven insights into scalable, commercial products. Stay current with emerging technologies in AI, with specific emphasis on AI for biology and chemistry, and recommend strategic adoption. Foster a culture of using AI to enhance and accelerate timelines, innovation, and commercialization within the company. Qualifications Demonstrated expertise in building custom models and/or adapting off the shelf models Applying off-the-shelf models to biochemistry and related scientific AI problems is a plus Excellent communication skills; ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams. Proficiency in Python, R, or other data science languages. Preferred background/understanding/interest in delivery systems, nutrients, biochemistry, bioengineering, etc. Preferred experience with multi-omics data integration and analysis. Preferred familiarity with Quality by Design (QbD) and Design of Experiments (DoE) approaches. Prior experience in start-up or fast-paced innovation environments
