Los Alamos, New Mexico What You Will Do Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in science and engineering on behalf of national security. You will work with the Engineering Division and the Modern Manufacturing Methodologies Group, a world-leading team in modern manufacturing techniques, risk analysis/management, and systems engineering. In this position, you will be a part of a cross-disciplinary collaboration working on a groundbreaking R D project to create solutions to complex problems. In this position, you will enhance current capabilities for artificial intelligence (AI) analysis through the validation of model-based systems engineering (MBSE) models. We are looking for enthusiastic engineers/scientists with mathematical, statistical, and systems engineering skills. LANL team members will support and enrich your research and professional goals through their outstanding breadth and depth of expertise in their respective fields. Minimum Job Requirement:
An understanding of CAD modeling to support the creation of visual language models (VLMs) that will make corrective suggestions to designers Demonstrated skills in a software/programming language either in support AI or MBSE tools The ability to work and communicate effectively in a diverse team environment Self-motivated and independent researcher who has demonstrated experience as part of an interdisciplinary team Ability to obtain a Q clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship
Education/Experience:
Doctoral Degree in Industrial Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related STEM field of engineering, math, or physics.
Desired Qualifications:
A record of achievement through reports, publications, intellectual property, and/or technical products Publications in refereed journals and a history of successful research in collaborative team environments Experience developing AI applications Familiarity with "big" datasets and working knowledge of model-based systems engineering tools

The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management. Note to

Clearance:
Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements• for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance, and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad. •Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test:
The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Internal Applicants:
Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the required period of continuous service, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader.
