Job Description
Overview We are supporting a leading New York hedge fund seeking a hands-on Applied GenAI Engineer / AI Workflow Architect to embed with teams across the business and design, build, and deploy production-ready AI workflows . This is not an AI strategy, transformation, L&D, or training role. The successful candidate will be someone who actively works with LLMs, RAG pipelines, and agentic workflows in practice , understands how these systems behave in production, and can explain technical design choices clearly in a high-stakes, regulated environment. What You'll Be Doing Sit directly with teams across Operations, Accounting, Legal, Compliance, and HR to understand real day-to-day workflows and translate ambiguous, repetitive, or document-heavy tasks into robust AI-assisted solutions. Build and test LLM-driven workflows using modern tooling such as Claude, OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Vertex AI, LangChain-style frameworks, RAG, and agentic orchestration patterns . Design and evaluate agentic workflows , including system prompts, guardrails, escalation paths, and human-in-the-loop controls . Validate output quality and system behaviour across hallucinations, edge cases, and failure modes , and ensure workflows fail gracefully and can be defended under scrutiny. Partner with Compliance and Legal teams to ensure all AI workflows are secure, auditable, and appropriate for a regulated financial environment . Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, answering questions directly and explaining AI limitations, trade-offs, and design decisions with confidence. What We're Looking For Proven experience building and deploying AI workflows in production , rather than only piloting, training, or enabling others to use them. Deep practical understanding of LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG, multi-agent systems, and AI workflow design . Demonstrated ability to reason about AI behaviour, limitations, hallucination handling, and failure modes . Experience working in regulated or high-risk environments such as financial services, trading, capital markets, legal, or comparable sectors . Strong communication style and able to answer questions precisely, clearly, and without overcomplicating the response .
This is important:
the client has specifically screened out candidates who lacked technical depth or failed to answer technical questions directly. Ideal Background Candidates are likely to come from roles such as: Applied GenAI Engineer LLM Engineer AI Workflow Architect Forward Deployed AI Engineer AI Solutions Architect Hands-on AI / Automation Business Analyst Profiles that are primarily AI enablement , learning & development , change management , or strategy / transformation leadership are unlikely to be the right fit for this role. What Success Looks Like Production-ready AI workflows that improve business processes in a measurable and defensible way. Stakeholders trust both the technical quality of the AI solutions and the judgement behind when AI is , or is not, the right answer. The successful candidate can operate credibly in a hedge fund environment by demonstrating technical depth, strong judgement, and clear communication , rather than relying on high-level analogies or generic enablement language.
