Friday, March 13, 2026 Position Summary The Senior Data Architect sits within Carlyle's Enterprise Technology & Data organization and supports firm‑wide data initiatives spanning investment platforms, portfolio operations, investor relations, and corporate functions. The role operates in a federated data model, partnering with domain teams while establishing shared architectural standards and platforms. The Senior Data Architect is a senior technical leader and trusted lieutenant to the Head of Data Transformation, serving as the primary go‑to expert for enterprise data architecture and modern data platform design. This role is responsible for designing, evolving, and governing Carlyle's modern, AI‑ready data architecture, ensuring that data is trusted, scalable, interoperable, and fit for advanced analytics and machine learning use cases. The Senior Data Architect translates enterprise data strategy into executable technical designs and acts as a critical bridge between strategy, engineering execution, and business value. The role combines deep hands‑on architectural expertise with strong influence, operating across teams to ensure consistency, quality, and long‑term sustainability of Carlyle's data ecosystem.In-Office Requirement:
4 days per week Responsibilities Enterprise Data Architecture & Modernization (~40%) Act as the senior technical authority for enterprise data architecture, partnering closely with the Head of Data Transformation to shape and execute Carlyle's data strategy. Design and evolve Carlyle's cloud‑native, best‑of‑breed data platform, supporting analytics, reporting, automation, and AI at enterprise scale. Define target‑state architectures for data ingestion, transformation, storage, semantic layers, and consumption across federated domains. Establish and enforce architectural standards for scalability, performance, security, resiliency, and cost efficiency. Modern Data Pipelines & Platforms (~25%) Architect and guide the implementation of modern data pipelines using tools such as dbt, Fivetran, Apache Iceberg, Snowflake, and Databricks. Design ELT and streaming patterns that are testable, observable, and resilient. Define data modeling standards (analytical, dimensional, and semantic) that enable trusted self‑service analytics. Partner with data engineering teams to ensure consistent application of patterns and reuse of shared platform capabilities. AI‑Ready & Semantic Data Foundations (~20%) Design AI‑ready data foundations, including semantic layers, contextual metadata, and reusable data contracts. Enable machine learning and generative AI by ensuring data is well‑modeled, discoverable, governed, and explainable. Collaborate with Data Science and Analytics teams to support feature stores, experimentation environments, and reusable data products. Advance semantic modeling and context engineering to enable natural‑language analytics and AI‑driven insights. Data Governance, Quality & Trust (~10%) Partner with Data Governance to define standards for data quality, metadata management, lineage, and stewardship. Ensure architectural designs support regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g., SOX, SEC, FINRA, GDPR, DORA). Promote reuse, interoperability, and consistent definitions of critical enterprise data. Technical Leadership & Mentorship (~5%) Serve as a senior technical mentor to data engineers and analysts. Lead architectural design reviews and provide guidance on complex initiatives. Influence technical decisions across a matrixed, federated organization without direct authority. Qualifications Education & Certificates Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related fields. Cloud or data architecture certifications (AWS, data management, analytics) preferred. Professional Experience 10+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or enterprise analytics. Proven experience designing and operating modern, cloud‑native data platforms. Hands‑on expertise with AWS‑based data ecosystems and modern analytics stacks. Strong experience building data platforms that support AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics. Experience operating in federated data models and complex enterprise environments. Competencies & Attributes Deep technical fluency combined with strong business acumen. Ability to translate strategy into executable architectural designs. Pragmatic, delivery‑oriented mindset with strong attention to data quality and sustainability. Collaborative, trusted partner to senior leaders and technical teams. Comfortable operating in high‑visibility, transformational initiatives. Benefits/Compensation The compensation range for this role is specific to New York and takes into account a wide range of factors including but not limited to the skill sets required/preferred; prior experience and training; licenses and/or certifications. The anticipated base salary range for this role is $200,000 to $210,000. In addition to the base salary, the hired professional will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package spanning retirement benefits, health insurance, life insurance and disability, paid time off, paid holidays, family planning benefits and various wellness programs. Additionally, the hired professional may also be eligible to participate in an annual discretionary incentive program, the award of which will be dependent on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
