You ve built a data pipeline that ran in production

not a class project, not a Kaggle notebook. Something that ingested real data, transformed it, and served it to a downstream system. You understand the difference between a data warehouse, a data lake, and a lakehouse
and can articulate when each is the right choice Hands-on experience with SQL (you ll live in it), Python, and at least one of: Apache Spark, dbt, Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect You ve worked with unstructured or semi-structured data
PDFs, images, OCR outputs, free-text documents.

Not just clean CSVs.

You understand vector databases and embeddings at a practical level

how RAG systems consume data and what the data layer needs to provide You think about data quality, governance, and lineage as first-class concerns, not afterthoughts You re comfortable working with on-premises infrastructure, not just cloud-managed services
