05/14/2026 @ 4:00 PM Position Overview The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking a Prompt Engineer to bridge business strategy, data analytics, and generative AI to deliver actionable insights. This role focuses on designing and optimizing prompts, leveraging LLMs, and translating complex business problems into AI-driven solutions to improve decision-making and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities Design, test, and optimize prompts for LLMs (ChatGPT, Claude) Translate business problems into structured prompt frameworks and AI-driven solutions Build prompt-driven systems for: Executive reporting and narrative generation KPI tracking and performance analysis Customer insights, segmentation, and A/B testing Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify high-impact AI use cases Evaluate prompt performance using testing, feedback loops, and metrics Combine SQL/Python analysis with AI insights for end-to-end solutions Develop reusable prompt libraries, templates, and best practices Present AI-driven insights to stakeholders and leadership Required Skills & Experience 4+ years of experience in business analytics, strategy, or data-driven roles Hands-on experience with LLMs (ChatGPT, Claude) in a professional setting Strong analytical skills with SQL, Python, or similar tools Experience designing KPI frameworks, dashboards, or executive reporting systems Ability to structure problems using hypothesis-driven or consulting frameworks Proven ability to translate data into actionable business insights Strong communication and stakeholder management skills Master's degree required Preferred Qualifications Experience in financial services Experience with A/B testing, cohort analysis, and performance optimization Experience with BI tools ( Power BI, Tableau, Looker ) Familiarity with prompt evaluation, guardrails, and validation techniques Background in consulting frameworks ( McKinsey, BCG-style problem solving ) Key Competencies Generative AI & Prompt Engineering Data Analytics & Business Strategy SQL & Python Analysis KPI Development & Reporting Stakeholder Communication Problem Solving & Critical Thinking Important Notes 100% onsite role (5 days/week in Harrisburg, PA) Candidates must live within approximately 1 hour of central PA In-person interview required Candidate must bring $20 check/money order for badge on first day Parking costs are not covered Must comply with all government equipment and security policies Resume must contain only relevant experience (no filler content) Primary Skills LLMs (ChatGPT, Claude), SQL, Python, Power BI, Tableau, Data Analytics, KPI Frameworks, Prompt Engineering
