Part-time, Full-time About Us:
Seed Technologies is an early-stage startup gaining traction with strong industry collaborations, operating under the Virginia Innovation Partnership Corporation (VIPC) Launch Grant from Virginia's VC group. We are building the future of AI-driven industrial robotics for aerospace, maritime, and defense applications. We are developing MORPH-AI, a proprietary framework for large-scale, complex robotic material application. By combining artificial intelligence with high-degree-of-freedom (DOF) heavy-payload systems, we are solving physical execution challenges in environments previously thought impossible for automation. We swing big and think outside the box to develop novel solutions for dual-use aerospace and maritime advanced manufacturing and sustainment. Apply if you have a passion for innovation, collaboration, and love taking leaps of faith. If you don't meet all the qualifications but have deep passion for Physical AI and are a self motivated learner...APPLY! Salary is contingent upon award. Equity compensation is available for those who want to join the core team and are an excellent fit. Must be a
US CITIZEN
per Government Requirement.
The Role:
We are seeking an exceptionally sharp, technically rigorous AI Robotics Engineer to drive the intelligence layer of the
MORPH-AI
framework. This is not a role for wrapper deployment. You will be building mathematically sound data modeling, multi-modal architectures, and multi-agent systems that bridge the gap between high-fidelity physics simulations and real-time robotic kinematics on the shop floor. This role offers a unique opportunity to work alongside a Fortune 500 leader in Physical AI to transition cutting-edge research into rugged, real-world deployments. We are highly prioritizing doctoral students (Ph.D. candidates) or recent doctoral and Master graduates who want to see their theoretical work manifested in multi-ton physical machinery. We are not just looking for an employee; we are looking for a core member of our startup who wants to grow with us. Equity compensation is available for candidates who are an excellent fit and align with Seed's core values: love thy customer, radical candor, generosity, and empowered stewardship.
Key Responsibilities:
Rigorous Data Modeling:
Architect and implement deterministic, highly structured data pipelines and state estimation models for multi-modal sensor fusion (3D laser profiling, long-wave IR thermal imaging, and high-speed optical arrays).
Multi-Agent System Orchestration:
Design and optimize decentralized, multi-agent AI architectures that coordinate low-latency communication and task allocation between edge-compute nodes, fluid control systems, and robotic manipulators.
Physics-Informed AI Development:
Build and train Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs) that accelerate boundary-layer thermal simulations into sub-50ms real-time execution windows.
Kinematics & Path Planning:
Develop and integrate intelligent solvers capable of resolving complex robotic kinematics for high-DOF systems under dynamic environmental constraints.
Edge Deployment & Low-Level Acceleration:
Own the deployment of models onto ruggedized edge-compute hardware, leveraging hardware acceleration and interfacing with FPGAs for ultra-low-latency pipeline execution.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
Ph.D. candidate or recent Ph.D. graduate in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering, or a highly mathematical equivalent. Must be a US Citizen due to the nature of our technology and government contracts.
Deep AI Expertise:
Proven academic or industry track record in both multi-modal data fusion and multi-agent system design. Experience with machine learning models using frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and MATLAB for perception, decision-making, and control tasks. Understanding of AI models for robotics hardware using programming languages including Python, C++, C#, Java, and R to ensure robust performance across platforms.
Robotic Kinematics:
Deep foundational understanding of spatial transformations, forward/inverse kinematics, and Jacobian velocity control.
Physics-Informed ML:
Practical experience developing and training PINNs or integrating physical conservation laws into neural network losses.
Edge Compute & Hardware:
Experience deploying machine learning models to edge devices with tight computational budgets and interfacing with FPGAs or low-level custom digital logic.
Preferred/Bonus Qualifications:
Experience with stochastic kinematic solvers or advanced motion planning algorithms for hyper-redundant, high-degree-of-freedom systems. Hands-on experience with industrial robotics, specifically heavy-payload platforms like Fanuc (e.g., Foundry Pro series). Proficient with ROS / ROS-Industrial, Tesseract motion planning frameworks, and real-time Linux/industrial control protocols. Experience working in heavy manufacturing, aerospace sustainment, or advanced foundry environments. Why Join Seed? This is a rare opportunity to build hardware and intelligence frameworks that push the absolute limits of industrial robotics. At Seed, you won't be making incremental updates; you will be building the physical and digital backbone of the
MORPH-AI
framework and defining how intelligent robots interact with extreme environments and complex tasks. We are looking for a foundational team member ready to take ownership, embrace our culture of generosity and candor, and share in the upside through equity as we scale. Salary is competitive and benefits are competitive and contingent upon contract award. Equity compensation is available.
