As a Lead AI Engineer here at Honeywell, you will provide expert-level technical leadership in the design and development of AI algorithms, models, and systems. This specific role will be focused on development of computer vision, artificial intelligence (AI) and autonomy technologies for aerial vehicle platforms. This dynamic role will be responsible for crafting and implementing multi-year research plans, developing, and supporting AI technologies for autonomous vehicle operations, including navigation, obstacle detection, etc. The role includes pursuit of both government and internal funding for technology development, as well as leading the execution of the work with our global team of talented scientists and engineers. Your contributions will play a central role in the design, development, and deployment of advanced AI solutions, contributing to Honeywell's commitment to innovation and cutting-edge technology. You will report directly to our manager of autonomy, computer vision and AI research group and you'll work out of our Plymouth, MN location on a hybrid work schedule. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities Lead the development of complex AI solutions to address specific business needs, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and robustness. Drive AI, Computer Vision and Autonomy technology strategy development Define and lead research into new and novel techniques for AI across aerospace applications Drive technology transitions and productization of key AI and computer vision technologies to develop hardware, software, edge solution and integrate it onto key Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) and Urban air Mobility (UAM) platforms Provide mentorship and guidance to AI engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and technical excellence. Qualifications
US PERSON REQUIREMENT
Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization.
YOU MUST HAVE
Master's Degree or PhD from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as robotics, aerospace engineering, or related field. Minimum 5 years' experience developing AI or computer vision algorithms for autonomy, navigation and other aerospace applications utilizing perception, navigation and AI History of proposing and winning (>$500k) contracts with DARPA, ARL or other government agencies Mastery expertise in areas of research and development of computer vision and AI for aerospace applications Demonstrated experience leading complex technical R D programs for internal customers and external government customers Ability to lead direct and indirect reports by influence
WE VALUE
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, TensorFlow, and PyTorch. Strong leadership and management skills. Experience deploying complex computer vision solutions on unmanned systems for autonomy applications such as automatic landing/takeoff, landmark navigation, visual odometry, optical flow, target tracking or detect and avoid Deep experience and knowledge of state of the art research from top international conferences and journals in the area of robotics, computer vision and/or machine learning Writing and winning government funded proposals, especially for AI, autonomy and computer vision Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
