Make banking a Fifth Third better® We connect great people to great opportunities. Are you ready to take the next step? Discover a career in banking at Fifth Third Bank. Fifth Third Bank provides a variety of career development opportunities to help you build and sustain a strong future. We are proud of our workforce and of our employees' desire to stretch, learn and grow. About the Role Fifth Third is standing up a new Agentic Engineering team within Technology focused on autonomous agents, multi-agent architectures, and the platform capabilities that make them safe, observable, and production-ready inside a regulated financial institution. We are hiring a Principal Product Owner to define, prioritize, and drive delivery of the agentic platform — owning the product roadmap that spans agent orchestration, guardrail enforcement, developer tooling, and enterprise integration. This role reports to the Director of Agentic Engineering and operates as the product counterpart to a deeply technical engineering leadership team. You will translate ambiguous organizational needs into scoped, buildable capabilities — ensuring the team delivers value incrementally while maintaining alignment with enterprise governance, risk appetite, and architectural standards. You will be responsible for the value delivered by the ART (Agile Release Train), ensuring the team backlog is aligned with stakeholder needs and organizational priorities. You will define, develop, and lead the implementation of product roadmap deliverables, capabilities, and adoption from ideation through production release. What You Will Do Product Strategy & Roadmap Define, develop, and lead the product roadmap for the Agentic Engineering platform — covering agent orchestration, safety controls, developer experience, and enterprise integration. Translate ambiguous operational problems into scoped, buildable use cases with clear acceptance criteria and measurable outcomes. Lead a robust, continuous prioritization process that maximizes total value, balances risk mitigation, and drives adoption across the enterprise. Establish annual goals, objectives, and outcomes for the platform; track and monitor key performance indicators tied to adoption, reliability, and engineering velocity. Stakeholder Partnership & Governance Partner with Enterprise Architecture, Information Security, Software Engineering, and Data Science to define and execute on product strategies. Collaborate with Technology Peers, Enterprise Architecture, Information Security, Risk and Governance to gain agreement, approval, and guidance on platform capabilities. Provide transparency and ongoing communications with key technology and business stakeholders on roadmap progress, trade-offs, and delivery timelines. Make decisions in complex situations to drive key outcomes in support of regulatory and compliance needs, platform adoption, and enterprise-wide AI enablement. Delivery & Execution Own the team backlog — prioritizing, articulating, and delivering new features from ideation through production release within SAFe / ART ceremonies. Motivate the engineering team to deliver on the strategy and roadmap for continuous growth and improvement of platform outcomes and capabilities. Establish delivery patterns for experimentation, piloting, production release, measurement, and ongoing support of agentic systems. Partner closely with the Director of Agentic Engineering to ensure product direction and technical architecture remain aligned. Solve problems and make decisions in support of the team, with a focus on driving the greatest outcome for the platform and the Bank. Enablement & Adoption Help teams across the organization move from vague AI ideas to scoped, buildable, governed use cases enabled by the Agentic Engineering platform. Maintain and provide product information to internal engineering consumers for training, documentation, and onboarding. Actively monitor industry trends in agentic systems, LLM orchestration, and AI governance; participate in industry forums, professional associations, and conferences. Identify repeatable patterns and convert them into reusable assets, frameworks, templates, and playbooks that accelerate safe adoption. What We Are Looking For 8-10+ years of product ownership, product management, or technical program leadership experience in technology organizations. Experience working in SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) — PI Planning, ART ceremonies, backlog management, and value stream alignment. Experience partnering with security, risk, compliance, and enterprise architecture stakeholders in regulated environments. Solid product management background with strong presence and the ability to interact with and influence all levels of the organization. Business acumen and understanding of how platform capabilities drive downstream business outcomes. Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision while maintaining alignment with the Director of Agentic Engineering. Strong analytical skills with the ability to work through complex technical concepts and present well-thought-out, simple solutions. Helpful Experience Understanding of enterprise AI risk, model governance, and responsible AI practices in regulated environments. Experience defining product strategies for systems that handle non-deterministic behavior and require guardrail enforcement. Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt, Black Belt) desired. Experience with cloud services in a product ownership capacity. Background in developer experience, internal platform products, or API/SDK product management. Familiarity with agent orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph), MCP (Model Context Protocol), or agent-to-agent (A2A) patterns. Supervisory Responsibilities None. Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent education and related work experience. 8+ years of related experience in product ownership, product management, or technical program leadership. Demonstrated success in strategic development and program execution within technology organizations. Experience working in Agile or SAFe development environments. Inclusive leadership skills with the ability to promote a work environment that fosters creative thinking and innovation. Strong consultative and well-articulated communication and writing skills with the ability to interact and influence at all levels of the organization. Must be able to communicate ideas clearly — both verbally and in writing — to engineering, business, and executive stakeholders. Work Environment Hybrid role. Candidates must be located in the Farmington Hills / Metro Detroit, Michigan area. No fully remote candidates. Position not available for immigration sponsorship. Principal Product Owner
